I was going to write about my piano practice spreadsheet this week, but I need to take my spreadsheet-related “track these metrics, get these results” hypotheses through a few more iterations before I say anything definitive about them, so —
you get a picture of L and me, instead.
I have a good half-a-dozen pictures just like this one in an old photo album. Both of us in concert attire, side-by-side, celebrating a job well done.
In this case my job was page-turner. In the past it has been everything from accompanist to duet partner to computer operator.
(The computer had music on it.)
We worked as well together then as we do now. Arguably, we work better now because we’re both twenty years older and understand the value of digital over analog. 😉
What I mean to say is this —
I don’t know if everyone else who has someone like L in their lives (for whomever their equivalent of L is) looks at that person, every day, and thinks wow, I am so lucky to get to build a shared reality with him.
Which really means wow, we are so lucky to want to work towards the same goals.
Because it could have gone so very differently — and then I suppose I would have found someone else, or kept working on my own projects by myself.
But it’s much more fun to work with someone you love. ❤️
Anyway, here’s some Mozart:
